Character Information

Name: Katsuya Jonouchi
Canon: Yu-Gi-Oh! DM
Canon Point: After people are being recruited for interdimensional mission travel. ('Early Feb-2020')
OU/AU/CRAU/OC: Fanfic AU -> Fallers CRAU
Age: 17

World Information: At the Surface, these worlds are largely the same- though Jonouchi is notably from closer to 2020 as opposed to 1995 as DM Canon is; this only means that the level of non-dueling technology within the city is on par with modern day- boost the '1990s' section by 25 years in other words.

Aside from this, Skein (this fic here- it's very long don't try to read this for app purposes oh god) does a lot of digging into lore/expanding on it in addition to the premise's primary twist. The general gist of the latter is that Skein's universe is one where Seto Kaiba was born a girl named 'Kaseri Kouryuu', hiding her gender first to prevent being separated from Mokuba in a non co-ed orphanage, and then later to appease Gozaburo. The facade from there stuck out of habit, and the rest of the main differences from here are better left for the Personal History.

On the matter of background lore however, I'll explain things below.

As Skein seeks to bring harmony between the supernatural lore of the connected series (DM, GX, 5Ds- and admittedly some Zexal), a lot of it goes beyond the matter of just Egypt. At the core of things that no one actually knows beyond fairy tales at best, there's a creation mythos that explains where 'shadows'- 'duel monsters' in other words- originated. Creation/Light and Destruction/Dark came to being, fought, and between them 'Shadows' came to fruition, spirits that delighted in battle but to a less cutthroat point. Light from there tried her hand at creating something of her own, resulting in earth and the things upon it. When Darkness found out and tried to destroy it, she employed the Shadows as their protectors- for a time leading to a harmonious existence, an intermingling that granted the people of light themselves some of the powers from those Shadows.

After various events and battles between Light and Dark's envoys, this changed- the shadows were banished back to their own realms, but left with vague connections to the world of Light in order to continue their duty. Either through great powers summoning them through their images, or as 'ka' (as it was put in Egypt)- as shadows dictated by the hearts of the ones they were bound to. Most of the magic wielded by the people of Light faded away over years and generations, with few exceptions.

Ultimately what this means for the changes to the world is that things have a lot more life to them on the end of the Shadows (and a few people, meanwhile, can genuinely interact with them at varying levels). There's a whole sprawling world of numerous 'dimensions', filled with duel monster spirits/shadows living out their own lives and battles. In Skein's world, most of these spirits are quite content to be summoned 'unseen' into duels to have their battles, adhering to the 'rules of play'. They CAN however chose to go against them, as Jonouchi has seen- but most people can't perceive those decisions as anything more than a glitch or an error in the system.

FALLERS

Now, Fallers on the other hand. Fallers is a setting based entirely on that of the anime depiction of Alola- pokemon, characters, we have the works. Many of the characters even appeared as NPCs! The premise in general was that Ultra Holes- wormhole portals across time and space- would be opening up and quite literally causing people to fall down toward Alola (or in Jonouchi's case, Galar). As research into the portals was developed, those from other worlds and canons began to get involved via the main game's plot to create a stir about what to best handle the matter with- determining what should be done about the 'Fallers', the pokemon entering other realms, and so on. By the time Jonouchi is set to arrive, a few portals have become stablized enough to be considered permanent connections, with various Fallers chosen as 'Ultra Riders' to pass back and forth and handle the various problems arising. (They're like Park Rangers but cooler, with Kamen Rider uniforms.)

Jonouchi never became an Ultra Rider, but by the time he comes in it's enough common knowledge amid the Fallers over all that he can pretty easily and accurately talk about it.

Personal History: For Canon Events, here is a link to the manga, anime only legendary heroes (note that Otogi's portion of this follows the manga), and Virtual World arcs, and lastly the spin-off manga Yu-Gi-Oh! R. For ease of reference- the main manga link is relevant from the start up to (Battle City) Tournament Finals. Beyond that, the below summarizes Jonouchi's parts of Skein as they deviate from canon, as best as possible.

As noted above under World History, Skein is a universe where the premise focuses on a change to Seto Kaiba's own backstory. Jonouchi is brought into things via Mokauba- having been brought to Seto's home for a 'reward' after helping 'him' with an unknown matter only to refuse in order to berate the elder on his treatment and neglect of the boy- who takes a special interest in him enough that when Jonouchi unintentionally uncovers this secret, Mokuba goes out of his way not only to offer the blond shelter, but also work (going absolutely too far to do so, as he interferes with matters involving Jonouchi's father to get the man arrested- Jonouchi is later in the fic able to visit him in prison, where things are actually going rather well, but otherwise the direct result of all this means he lives in the same house and gets to be part of security within the building).

From here, Death T happens- but Jonouchi takes pains to keep close to Mokuba, keeping him not only safe, but distracted from the prospect of blindly waiting for his sister to wake up. As a result, Mokuba becomes so integral to the group that he participates in the Monster World Arc. During this time as well, a connection between Jonouchi and Seto's spirit, who is building her puzzle for her Penalty Game, seems to exist. This is actually more a result of Jonouchi's own budding abilities, not that he realizes it.

Many events of canon otherwise happen with accuracy from here- however, Mokuba gives Jonouchi the key to the safe that he protects, and when he's kidnapped swallows a duplicate. Jonouchi in turn is threatened by Pegasus and so he gives the key to Yugi before entering the tournament in the same way he did in canon. During Duelist Kingdom, his connection to the duel spirits, as well as his prophetic dreams, begins to bud- more importantly however, a shard of Seto's spirit left behind by the unfinished shadow game during her re-awakening takes refuge in his soul after Pegasus seals the rest in a card. Jonouchi encounters the embodiment of the Millennium Eye as it comes to take this piece, and successfully avoids losing her- however she sacrifices herself later to distract the CEO when he tries to seal Jonouchi away for the key, realizing all too late of course that Jonouchi doesn't have it. Jonouchi goes on a mad run through the mansion from there, eventually finding Seto's body and breaking her out before falling down a flight of stairs to avoid gunfire- Seto ultimately wakes, and helps him out until they reach the exit, where he moves himself to the side so that Mokuba can more properly reunite with her (And then berate Jonouchi for having sliced up feet and a bleeding head).

From here, things like Christmas- where Jonouchi becomes aware of Noa's existence as Gozaburo's son- happens, as well as the Legendary Heroes arc, which bears hints of Noa's continued presence. During Rebecca and Otogi's introductions however, Jonouchi truly begins to realize that he's having prophetic dreams and flashes, and more importantly is beginning to clearly see the 'Other Yugi' (Yami Yugi)'s form as a spirit- Yugi, when the two are swapped. Following the events, a casual spring is spent playing around with this (as the Other Yugi is now able to more freely converse with someone other than Yugi without taking his body), before the events of Battle City come to play.

Jonouchi temporarily stands in for one of Seto's body guards when they view the tablets with Ishizu- it is after this that the embodiment of the Tauk visits him in his sleep, explaining that they are there only to 'observe', but ultimately realizing they cannot. They confess that they feel a 'kinship' however, and warn him of 'The Flames with Eyes that Devour'. Later, when Battle City properly begins (and after Jonouchi discovers his ability to feel connection to the duel field has now grown to the point where not only does the physical damage reach him, but monsters can do what they will- Exodia punches him for one, but Panther Warrior is actually stuck in reality until the blond wakes, and he snaps at him about it) this is revealed to be the Millennium Rod- it is also revealed that while Jonouchi can see the eye of control manifesting literally, and even address the Rod itself, no item holders are in the same boat.

From here canon diverges in a slight manner as Ryuzaki watches Jonouchi's duel against Roba, the inexplicable spark damage to Jonouchi's clothes making him curious enough to remain. The latter treats the former to ramen, where he finds out that Ryuzaki is the 'Keiichi' that his sister has been talking to him about. (This becomes key later, as Ryuzaki then comes back as a spectator on the Airship with Shizuka) Malik, becoming interested in Jonouchi specifically when he proves so resistant to the rod that he has to cut him for control to set (And even then, they watch him fight invisible flames for a few moments first), opts to take more complete control over Anzu so that he can better watch.

For the duel against Yugi, Jonouchi is effectively 'locked in' by the embodiment of the Rod, which begins to gain personification the longer it holds him. He expells himself from the body to begin fighting it off, and when Yugi sets the puzzle on Jonouchi's form, the Other Yugi as well finds himself present- enough to even try helping to fight the Rod off, and even witness the duel as Jonouchi has seen them thus far (he therefore sees many of the monsters refuse to fight, even). Ultimately 'canon' end occurs, and Jonouchi begs Red-Eyes to attack him so that he can free Yugi as well- the dragon does so, and Jonouchi sinks into the water only to be saved by Seto herself. As everyone else arrives to the scene Seto is seen giving the blond CPR, from which Jonouchi fortunately recovers. He is able to reunite with his sister for the first time since the last summer (when she could still see), and they go to the airship from there (where he's forced into the medical bay with Yugi, by an irritated Seto).

Battle City's airship rounds prove a horrid test on Jonouchi's ability to deflect and deny- he deflects Yugi's questions about what they saw on the duel. He denies and even hides the fact that Malik is still vastly in control of Anzu, and more than that excuses himself to the washroom many times as he forsees things like upcoming matches and terrors. It's to the point where he is forced to confess that he can see the shadow games during Mai's match, and after further admitting that he forsaw Seto winning while within Ishizu's earshot, a conversation on just what Jonouchi even is comes up. Ultimately no answers are had, and things become even more confusing for Jonouchi when the spirit that seemed to have saved him from the shades that appeared in his duel with Rishid (nearly tearing him apart notably) reappears in his dreams- with no understanding of why.

The spirit remains as the events of the Virtual World unfold, where even more mysteries about just what lurks in Jonouchi's heart and mind come forward to the others. Numerous hints toward the culture of Atlantis, as well as the village of his past life, manifest throughout the setting of the Virtual World due to unconscious connections, and lest he become trapped in memories from another time, a program is developed in order to guide him through. Even with this, his very 'class' outfit represents that past life's former being, with the ties of ancient (Atlantean) blood refusing to abate.

In particular beyond these matters, this arc is more visceral and battle oriented than in canon- hence the matter of classes and combat. While Jonouchi is guided to proper goals by one program, another is made to try and seek out a precise memory of Seto's to display to her- tormenting her with other memories of the past as a result. To keep matters brief, Noa ultimately determines that Jonouchi's body would be preferred, deciding that he can therefore use the connection to Mokuba as a continued tie to Kaiba Corp when he becomes so enraged with Seto that the idea of keeping her even as a 'puppet' becomes revolting. When he takes Jonouchi's connection to the body however, Jonouchi himself is left to become 'the computer', retaliating against Noa under the guidence of a spirit- Noa's mother. After Gozaburo reveals himself and changes things however, Noa escapes in Jonouchi's body with Mokuba at his side, forcing Jonouchi into the situation again. Jonouchi manages to barely protect himself from 'losing himself'- becoming reduced to a being without morals, acting only on the final wishes of a mental 'program' as he's left to become a machine- and from there he helps the others to escape via a chess match against Gozaburo. He then is left to stay behind- first to help Seto escape (at which point Seto discovers Jonouchi has sustained scars from his duels, due to Ra's mark not existing when she gave him CPR), and then while waiting for Noa to return to give him his body.

They escape, only to find that while they were in the Virtual World, Ryuzaki was forced to face Yami Malik in combat- physically- to keep the other from killing them in their sleep. Ryuzaki 'won', but ultimately sustained enough injury that he's arguably comatose on the ship. Jonouchi, hearing that one of the doctors as well has been killed, realizes that Seto is not only continuing the tournament specifically to buy time for help, but also realizes during the Battle Royale following that Seto intends to die to take Malik down. He therefore pushes his abilities to force himself into a match against Malik, and when Seto attempts to convince him to forfeit, confesses that he loves her- giving her a kiss (and getting punched in turn), before going to face Malik.

During the duel with Malik, his ability is revealed by 'force'; while the spectators can't see the shadows or how the holograms are moving accordingly, they can see the blood as it falls from Jonouchi's form, thus watching him become impaled upon 'nothing' when his failed attack with the Devil's Mirror comes into play. Malik taunts him in the duel as well, unknowingly and knowingly- calling him seer, but also speaking entirely in Old Egyptian, which Jonouchi unwittingly understands (though he responds in Japanese). Ultimately he pulls through long enough to enter a trance state and mirror Malik's summon chant for Ra, only barely being beaten by the other- he then converses with Ra before he's struck down, and lasts just long enough to declare attack before collapsing due to his injuries over the duel, narrowly 'losing' the match.

From here Ra gives him a trial of sorts in his 'dreams'- he has an assistant display to Jonouchi another reality where things proceeded differently, creating various dilemmas of varying severity alongside otherwise 'better' things; a test on if he can focus on what is real and best
for him, or if he will continue to drop everything at his own expense (the primary reason he's been keeping so much secret through the fic) to try and help the alternate versions of his friends. When Jonouchi narrowly passes and awakens with not enough time for Ra to heal his injuries, the god sends him to briefly stand at Yugi and Seto's duel, where he convinces Yugi that he'll be alright and briefly shows him the monsters of the field at their 'kindest'. Jonouchi is then able to wake up, his injuries healed impossibly into nothing but scars, and makes it up the tower in time to see the end of Seto's duel before watching the duel against Malik.

Following Battle City, Jonouchi is forced to come clean about experiencing real damage on the field, though he convinces Yugi that the monsters of his deck are courteous enough that they won't risk anything by having their duel together. They do so, and he ultimately gets Red-Eyes Black Dragon back. While the incident largely cools down, the events of YGO-R's manga soon come forward, with horrible consequence to Jonouchi. First seeming to simply negate Jonouchi's power (as he fails to enter the trance state familiar to him when Osiris is summoned), it turns out that the power of the Gods is being dampened- on top of still experiencing real damage duels, Jonouchi collapses repeatedly as memories of his past life strike in violent visions, which Honda describes as watching a 'seizure'.

Ultimately while the threat of the Evil Gods are stopped, Jonouchi's more severe visions don't fade, even with multiple months of relative peace- he begins having longer visions, and while they do not result in seizures, they do result in him freezing in place, staring off at nothing as the vision strikes. Even so they remain integral- after taking part in an unexpected 'prize vacation trip' with some of his friends (and family), he foresees the plane's crash, barely convincing them to prepare in time to survive it. Stranded in India from there, he and the others soon meet with a man claiming to have been travelling with Yugi's grandfather and Ryuzaki's great-aunt, following him to the pyramid they were last seen at before being tricked into entering a portal to another realm.

Jonouchi's canon-point will be at the point of the very start this arc of the fanfic, which is still underway; specifically the Capmon arc, which means that he's gone from entering the 'world of shadows' to entering...well. Galar, as the game 'Fallers' was hosting an event there at the time. (The transport is notably after a plane crash involving himself, Yugi, Shizuka, Haga, Ryuzaki, and Haga's Sister. So very different Capmon arc.)

FALLERS HISTORY

Jonouchi was in Galar for a short time, where he was quickly found by a Galaran Ponyta that he took to keeping around. It was in the nearby city of Stow-On-Side that he ran into Seto Kaiba...Rather, the 'canon' Seto Kaiba, which was quite a surprise indeed as they realized the differences in their worlds. Adapting to it quickly, he wound up getting registered with the other 'world fallers' and returning with them to Alola...somehow smuggling the Ponyta with him on the plane back.

This would unfortunately come back to bite him, as the ponyta would fight a little too eagerly during a stand-off in the middle of a store. Wicke, who was watching him at the time, would wind up granting the punishment of first properly registering the pokemon to a pokeball and second brushing up on pokemon care laws so that it Never Happened Again. While willingly taking the punishment and doing his best to 'study up' (not the easiest thing for him but he managed), he fretted about going back home to help his friends...at least until Christmas.

During Christmas, everyone received a letter from those of their own worlds, along with various gifts from the real Santa Claus- in his case new sneakers YOU GOT THE RUNNING SHOES!. The letter was the more important one, as it claimed that things with his friends had actually been handled and solved, and things had otherwise returned to peace. Able to calm down more properly, Jonouchi therefore settled into trying to enjoy the holidays while waiting for a way back.

At this time, he'd run into the Ring Spirit while waiting at a Pokemon Center for his pokemon. Both of course would be confused about the other- aside from 'Zahra' (Wester's later canon counterpart), an alternate blend of Anzu and Yami Yugi whom he encountered not long after Christmas, Jonouchi had only encountered Seto Kaiba, and therefore didn't know enough to presume what was 'average' between worlds. As both talked the other in circles however, Jonouchi began to suffer violent flashbacks from his past life relating to the topic. His ponyta- who had been soundly returned at that point- sensed the distress and awkwardly charged out with him slumped over her back before leaving him on a trail to get help.

Help would be Seto and Zahra, who pulled him back from the visions and quietly talked to him about them. With their help, he managed to ground himself at the very least on one very key matter- weird as it was, whatever he had been seeing and experiencing was him at one time. A tragic matter, and one he still didn't understand, but at least now one he could separate his own thoughts from.

Mostly. As January properly began, a visit to Akala Island would be accompanied by an unexpected swarm of various farming animals from large to small- tapping into the experience of his past life, Jonouchi would find himself picking up a stick and herding the various goats-sheep-horses-cow type pokemon and such, soon leading an entire herd of things back to their farms. It gave him a rare chance to somewhat get back at the Ring Spirit by taunting him- unwittingly causing the amallgam to mentally black himself out to avoid falling apart (as the Ring Spirit is the combined presence of Zorc, and the Thief King- whose opinions on Jonouchi's implied past life are very different). Ultimately Jonouchi would come out from the event with a skiddo and a wooloo- both of whom were swiftly registered into pokeballs (not that it stopped the former from chewing up poor Wicke's lace doilies when he got out).

Peace did not last long however, as Zahra- intending to bring issues with another interdimensional taskforce to an end- attempted to summon the Egyptian Gods to Alola. Having a vision of the matter before it occurred, Jonouchi would wake up and hurriedly raise up alarm for others- and the Tapus in turn would send Jonouchi, Seto, and another off to help stop the storm. Pointing out that Jonouchi had technically brought one of the 'gods' to Alola as well, they sent forward three pokemon who had agreed to host their power in order to safely preserve the world's balance, telling the blond to make use of his power and summon those gods. Ra therefore came through using a Pidgey, temporarily a Pidgeot. Obelisk, presented to Seto, was bound to a Stonjouner. As both fought against the pokemon shielding Zahra in an attempt to knock them from their summoning trance, they would be joined by Ryou Bakura as well- bringing forth Osiris bound to a Centiscorch.

The battle ultimately would end in chaos. While balance somewhat returned, the reputation of the Fallers diminished significantly, with Zahra in question arrested for their crimes. After a few others visited them in their cell, Jonouchi and Seto would as well, inviting them for a retreat while things recovered. Zahra, after all, was free to go.

The retreat would go...questionably well from there. From attempts at camping, sheltering, and so on, eventually people would get sick of the dedication to the outdoors and simply pay for a few rooms at the hotel at Hano Beach (the someone was Seto). It would ultimately be a good break however- one fading into rest, relief, and-

And now he's on a train station, because of course he is.

Personality: (Taken from his Fallers App!)

- Street Smart; If there's one thing Jonouchi lacks, it's academic intelligence. He's canonically among the lowest ranking students in Domino High, and it's noted at least once that the school in question is only barely above the reputation of being the worst. But while Jonouchi might not be so quick on the uptake with say algebra, that doesn't make him a fool- he's been in gangs, and he's been around the block enough to be canny to how a fight works, enough to know where to put your money where your mouth is. And also bluff. He's also in general just plain clever- an idiot doesn't come up with the idea to swing a puzzle around and catch a bunch of yo-yos, but a battle-smart guy does.

- Cautious; Jonouchi's a bit more cautious than his canon counterpart though, and not because of his history in the gangs. It's simply a matter of being bitten just a few too many times by his own gut sense; he's ignored it one too many times right before some villain of the week has jumped in with a new idea, and even worse, those guys like to jump in even before his gut sense kicks in. Over all, while he can certainly get carried away with the moment he can just as quickly pull back in fear, at the very least to pause and think 'wait, is this a good idea?'

- Loyal; Ultimately it's easy to overpower his word unless its serious though, and more than that his determination and dedication to the people he cares about overpower all caution. If he thinks it's worth it, he'll charge in gun's blazing, even if he's openly aware of a threat that the others ignored. He'll fight tooth and nail, soul on soul in fact- he literally tears himself apart for his friends in the fanfic.

- Understanding; Perhaps the consequence of being so much more torn apart and affected by things is that Jonouchi's gained an edge of 'wisdom' to him. His own friends have noted that at times he seems more mature, and more responsible- and they're correct. While it's easy to see it overpowered by his teenaged excitement, there are many times where Jonouchi is genuinely able to step back and become the voice of reason- something that still shocks the others. Part of it is helped by his visions of course, but mostly it's the result of having had to be the one pulling people through the last few times- Mokuba relies on him a lot more in the series early on, and later, he's literally the one in the computer's pilot seat...and from there he just takes it on himself to be the grounded one in the mess anyway.

- Over Excitable; Jonouchi is ultimately still Jonouchi though. He's passionate, and loud, and the more something runs with his mood and gets his blood boiling the louder he gets- whether because of a rage for an injustice against his friends, or (as is more likely) even just the excitement that comes from being able to eat a good meal, ride in an airship, try a new video game...or even see na aquarium! It's his excitement and passion that keeps his fears from overpowering him entirely, and allows him to even enjoy dueling enough to bond with his monsters once they begin talking.

- Secretive; Ultimately though, he's aware of how weird all of it is. He's aware, and while not necessarily ashamed he gets worried about how his friends will take it- and he knows that a stranger would just as soon have him committed. So he has a stronger tendency to deflect- to say it's alright when it isn't, even if it's not about the supernatural at all. What someone doesn't know...won't hurt them right?

CRAU developments:

While he didn't have much time to change in Alola, a major development in the form of reconciling with his abilities and 'past life' came forward. Jonouchi prior Fallers didn't even know he had a past life, and while the precise reasons are still unknown to him there's a fair amount of knowledge at his disposal that has allowed the two existences to converge at certain points. Specifically:

  • He knows that for some reason, he and a bunch of other guys got super murdered to make the millenium items. Sucks. Weird. Has no idea about the nonsense surrounding all of that, which makes for an awkward bout of missed connections.
  • Apparently he used to herd goats! This translates into...knowing how to herd goats. And other things similar to that really. Basically he has ancient herding skills including a weird whistle.

Over all, he hasn't changed a lot personality wise beyond being far more comfortable with himself and his weird ability nonsense- visions just kinda happen. Zoning out when gods get summoned happens! Summoning monsters in his sleep because he had a nightmare and freaked out and now Alligator Sword is in his room-

Alright that one's still weird, but he can at least TALK about things, so over all he's a little less secretive with his friends and trusted others.

Equally important is that now that he knows multiple worlds- and alternate dimensions- exist. So the idea of say...canon-Seto Kaiba, and the like, are a lot more acceptable (as is being recruited by an interdimensional train for that matter).

Key themes: For Jonouchi's personal story, I would say there's a growing theme of 'coming of age', 'trust/companionship', and 'identity'. A lot of the story for Jonouchi involves him growing as a person not just in skill but also in maturity over all (even if a lot of it comes through literal force), but as well there's the matter of him coming to grips with who HE is, what he CAN do, and sorting out where that fits into his life. What does he want to do in the future, where does he want to go in the future? He doesn't entirely know, and while he's at peace with that, he can't just Stay that way and the story brings that forward a lot with the problems thrust upon him. More than that however is that he can't hold things close to his chest, and the story time and time again makes that clear. Things are better when they're communicated, and when he puts his faith in those around him over all.

Main Motivation: His friends and family, absolutely. He's pushed himself through near literal death time and time again for the ones he loves and cares about, and while he can be a bit selfish at the worst of times it absolutely pales next to what he's willing to sacrifice for others.

Heck, he nearly failed a dream-test because he was considering dropping everything to help fix things! Spooky.

    Skills: Basic non-magical skills include:

    - Dueling (he's a lot better than people give him credit for, thanks)
    - Street-Fighting/Improvised Fighting (which is bolstered impressively by the fact that he went through Kaiba's security training in his world- and he's canonically known for taking down as many as five on his own without that addition)
    - Lock-picking, Tailing (people), other...breaking and entering skills from when he was in a Gang
    - Crafts- we canonically see him familiar with garage-kits, and in Skein he tries his hand with clay and wirework from there.
    - He can drive! Kind of. Did some joyrides in middle school, and also did some hotwiring Jonouchi why
    - Via PastLife Bleed; Navigation and herding. Past life was a goat herd.
    - Pokemon Care Law; he was required to pass a test on this at a certain level in order for Wicke to remove his punishment in Fallers.

Magical Skills are a bit more unique. In essence, thanks to the blood of his pastlife, Jonouchi can be described as a living Millenium Item. A number of the skills he had in his life as the Goat Herd even translated into certain powers that the Items have (though obviously not all the things the items can do reflect that. That'd be weird).

    To keep it brief-

    - Visions; Jonouchi often receives flashes throughout the day of things that are either happening simultaneously, but elsewhere, or things that will happen within the near to long future (though typically no farther than 24 hours). These visions cannot be defied- and in fact when his pastlife attempted as much, fate reacted violently in turn- but as a trade off they're often extremely vague matters such as statements people make out of the blue, or mere fractions of seconds from burning fires and the like. (Note; this is a separate matter from dreams of the past. Jonouchi's dreams of the past are strictly a matter of past-life memory and trauma.)

    - Item Resistance; while not immune, Jonouchi is able to see the embodiments of the Millenium Items powers (though there's exception for the items that actually HAVE spirits). As such, he can technically fight them off- technically. Unfortunately this also means that he's equally likely to be overpowered by most of them. The sole exception is the Tauk- the item can't discern a single thing about his fate, or his past.

    - Shadow Sensitivity; Relating to both the above and below points, he carries a general sensitivity to shadow magic and what it touches. Whether 'feeling' something on the air, or almost hearing a 'rumble' of magic, he generally feels like something is off if item magic and shadow magic is at play.

    - 'Real' Dueling; For Jonouchi, all duels become 'real'- but only on his end. While he's managed to use his ability to grant view of the 'real' events of a duel to an opponent once before, it takes a fair amount of focus in order to do so. As well, he tends to just. Not do that, since that kind of leaves the other end vulnerable to the monsters and spells on the field. Naturally he's stuck with that all the time- direct attacks in particular can become deadly if he's not especially careful, though many of the monster spirits take care not to go charging him with a weapon once they're aware.

Naturally, this also means he can see duel spirits outside of a duel, should they be out and about. In fact, he can even communicate to the spirits of his deck without summoning them now! Regarding the spirits on that note, it's worth mentioning that under typical circumstances- even when he accidentally summons something into reality- a duel monster spirit cannot interact with the world of light. In theory since he can stretch the power to an opponent, he could one day summon spells or monsters with actual force, but he's a fair ways from doing that.

    - Ka Access; Another point of 'abilities he's not entirely aware of', Jonouchi technically has access to his Ka beast, the Red Eyes Black Dragon. If it were to be summoned from his soul in full, it would be about the size of a large horse- and bound to his shadow at the tail. The closest Jonouchi has come to pulling it out was during the Virtual World Arc of Skein however, and he's yet to even consider the fact that such a thing could be possible. Under normal circumstances, Red Eyes is busy being in a card after all.

Related to this, and something he could well start doing before pulling up the full Ka if enough past bleed occurs, is a loose form of 'shadow manipulation'. Which ultimately amounts to literally scooping up shadows from his own/from his ka, and shaping them around in reality. Looks kinda cool. And that's all it does- his past life used it to tell stories.

As a bonus, while he can't read Egyptian (he couldn't do that in his other life; he could only speak it), he can read enochian. neat

Item: It's one of his pokemon! Which will make him both happy And sad as that means he's missing his dog tags...

    Some! Pokemon Info-

Name: 'Kaseri' yes he named it after his world's kaiba, and he can never take it back, he's made a Mistake
    Species: Galaran Ponyta
Size: About yay big. Roughly 17 inches at the shoulder, plus One Fat Head, in other words. There's an actual pony foal at that size in this article here, for a clearer idea!
Type/Moveset: Psychic | Confusion, Iron Tail, Fairy Wind, Agility, Heal Pulse, Psychic
General Abilities/etc: As a pokemon, Kaseri has the standard increase of strength and endurance that many others display- this includes being able to actually tow Jonouchi via the arm over her back, though it's an extremely uncomfortable experience for both sides and typically reserved for emergencies for. Hopefully obvious reasons.

Being Psychic type, she has certain related abilities as well- one of them is standard levitation, technically an offshoot of the move 'Psychic'. This is definitely part of why the above is actually possible. On a breed specific point however, she can store life energy from the atmosphere and store it within her mane- this results in it becoming more colourful, even glowing when there's excess energy present.

As noted by most Galaran pokedexes, Kaseri can heal minor injuries with her horn, and is able to soothe people's minds with the same power to bring them to ease. For Jonouchi in particular, this can typically help ground him in reality during a vision, or simply keep him from falling too far into a serious one. (This doesn't always work, but it Does often buy time to get to safety)

Basically she's something of an assist pony.

(It does note that Galaran Ponyta can 'read the contents of the heart' when looking someone in the eye, but as that particular ability wasn't something that came up in Fallers, it's assumed that Kaseri doesn't so much have that as have the tendency to naturally trust anyone with good intentions)

    Sample:

A somewhat older Fallers Thread, for more variety of mood, with another Here- and a bonus Log Entry!

Alrigh' I think th's is workin'.

This is uh...My firs' 'audio diary', 's called? Yeah, audio diary. Like those 'ship logs' or whatever from space shows 'n stuff! ...which sounds a lot cooler 'n what I was thinkin', geeze what am I, Yug'-

    Nyh-! A-anyway!

Firs' entry, firs'...day I guess, just sorta settlin' in. Kaseri's doin' ok so far, I think she misses th' others though...I don' even know why I'm recordin' all 'f th's stuff, but ev'ryone keeps sayin' 's good to look back on old stuff t' see how far y've come or t' see how well others are doin' so...I mean I guess tha's importan'.

    ...

    Man th's 's weird...

Nyhhhhuhhhh I guess 's far as mos' things go th's isn' so bad? Kinda got used t' havin' a room t' myself, but 's kinda cool to have bunkmates 'n all tha'. Like goin' campin', not tha' I ever got to.

    Well.

    ...Not properly at leas'...

...I guess 's jus' hard t' get excited abou' everythin', even 'f I try...

    ...Crap.

I'm gonna end it there, hones'ly.

    plus obligatory TDM sample-

Notes: Thank you for your patience with this app!! Also, I have an Opt-In page for Jonouchi's visions located here- since he can't change what happens, they'd always have to be things someone else decides anyway (unless it's something that only affects him), so having a page dedicated to sorting general things out seemed wise. (Naturally my usual contact channels are open for sorting that kind of thing out as well)

Mostly his vision's don't come up beyond occasionally spacing out though, since again, they're normally things like 'ah, yes, a sentence I need to Not finish for you'. That or 'Breakfast has burned. Shoot.'

As a side note, I tend to refer to him by his first name (Katsuya) in RP setting...largely because it makes little sense for him to think of himself by last name.
